"Short puzzle game with great art"
A short puzzle game where your progression revolves around translating unknown languages to figure out how to climb to the top of the tower. The puzzles are fun and interesting and the art style was never dull. My only complaint would be that I wanted a couple more languages to figure out (essentially it’s too short).

Calm puzzle game
The language building, including needing to know different grammar, is just challenging enough to make you think. The story keeps you going and allows for multiple endings. The soundtrack is a calming background.
The game has you working your way up a tower figuring out the languages of the people who live at different levels. Along the way you help different people, unravel the mysteries of the tower, and use the language you learn to solve puzzles. Good fun, fantastic storytelling through changes in environment.
You ever play a puzzle game and after completion bemoan the fact that there aren't enough puzzle games like what you just played? Chants of Sennaar was like this for me. It used it's made-up languages effectively to not only give you mental gymnastics to jump through in order to solve the world around you but did an effective job of incorporating its central mechanic into its overarching narrative. I believe the only complaint I can level at this game is that I would have wanted more from it. Take the guardrails off and let me really have to live in these areas to master the different languages. But for what it is (a 10-15 hour puzzle game) I believe it more than delivers on its premise and mechanics. Now if only more Devs could incorporate these types of experiences into more genres... but I digress! Complete Chants! Its well worth your time!
Great game that gets you to think about language and communication in general. The in game journal is a fantastic help in keeping track of your translations as you go through the game. Throwing out wild guesses for what a symbol could mean was good fun. It's "use your words!" the game. In an age of isolation where we would often desire to isolate ourselves I think the message of Chants of Sennaar is timely. As for cons, there were a couple of instances where I couldn't find puzzle elements to interact with them. There wasn't a great way to figure out where these elements are without wandering around (and the in game indicator for one of these was a bit misleading.) So I did end up looking up a guide to figure out where these two things were. The developers have a hints thread in the Steam discussion which helped me out for one of these.
