Spelunky 2 excels in almost over its predecessor Spelunky HD in almost every way. With new pathing through its Rouge-like platforming, giving you choice and varied runs in search of the ends of its many threads. There are few games that reward continued play with such pixel perfect understanding of not only the jumps, enemies, or treasures that you may find, but that you after you master it, you may find yourself spoiled for lack of such thoughtful gameplay and precision in everything else. Do not misunderstand, this game is HARD; it is punishing; with little "Rouge-lite" progression to accommodate your ego when you will lose everything. But for those that learn the systems, find the hidden secrets, and truly master its core; there is limitless play here. I can't recommend this game enough. I have come close to the final portal several times, and even then, I haven't finished every little thread this game offers, the thieves, the curse, ... the eggplants... even with over 250+ hours. Although, with that being said, the number of personal stories I have made in search of this game's goals, the triumphs, and the losses, are priceless. This is the ultimate, "stranded island" game and probably the hidden gem you're looking for.
The gameplay is really fun and unique. The game mechanics are easy to understand yet interesting. I have not seen such mechanics in other card games. The game changes act after act and its really a unique experience. Its hard to say much without spoiling but all in all, a must play, ngl ppl would play this game irl if it wasnt for some restrictions. 1010 game, complete it
This is a really solid platformer, great art style, the music is TOP NOTCH and the level design pretty good too. Controls are tight as a platformer should be and it doesnt rely on some movement gimmick, its just a straight up action platformer. Now it can be really unfair and punishing at times, the enemies gang up on you, the bosses are seemingly impossible even! I never did finish it the proper way though, too hard for me on the later bosses, but i still LOVE THIS GAME! If they ever release a sequel im there :D
combat and movement is handled by the physics system as an active ragdoll, extremely good optimization with snappy controls and plenty of options, game has an unconventional but robust character creator that allows you to import skins. the combat is very responsive with rather high knockback on most small enemies. movement is extremely responsive and allows for extremely fast traversal through both physics exploits and items. trippy ps1 style graphics with imaginative character design. a few flaws are enemy variety which in recent updates has gotten a lot better and the story having a lack of content but the game has a very replayable gameplay loop (I have done many runs) for 5 bucks its still a great deal
so much charm!! so much lore!! such good characters & worldbuilding!! let's not forget the OST!! great replay value with the hidden menu codes to spruce up the difficulty (not for me, but great it's there). genuinely i have almost no qualms with this game except that the platforming can be a lil janky sometimes, but other than that it's a wonderful game. seriously worth the full price, and i bought it for like, 10 bucks.
he is such a multifaceted character with great voice acting!! his relationship with stanley is vague but not too vague as to be boringโit's the heart of the game, imo. the ultra deluxe content is obviously great (skip button ending made me cry UGLY tears). humor almost always hits the mark, and one of my favorite aspects is how everyone interprets everything differently, like the story is unique to each person.
The Troop is a platoon/company level tactical wargame centered on WW2 around and after the Normandy invasion, with further content still coming. Gameplay is challenging and rewarding. Really good graphics for what the scale is. The rules take a minute to learn, especially in regards to the spotting mechanics which are the single most important mechanic. Many of the various game rules are adjustable, such as if an overwatch system is in play, whether units can fire through tall hedges or not, different rules for infantry movement, etc. Effectively endless replayability via skirmish battles and Battlegroup campaigns, where you can either pick your own forces and the enemies for a skirmish, or a bigger version where a force is picked for you from a selection of various templates and you can go on a randomised 5-9 mission campaign, along with historical campaigns and story missions. Frustration points can be found in the roughly X-Com-ish chance to hit, but if you're a fan of historical wargame titles, this is an absolute gem that deserves some attention.

Most unique game I've played in many years, the crazy vibrant and alien art-style that screams to your eyes non stop with very cool world design, and really fun platforming collectathon gameplay makes for a very unique and fun experience. I can not stress how highly underrated this game is.
